I Was Charged More Than Once! Will I Get a Refund?

Seeing a double charge on your bank statement can be stressful, but don't worry! Your money is safe, and we are here to help you get it sorted out as quickly as possible.

Here is exactly what you need to know about why this happens and how to get your refund:

Why Did This Happen?

Most double charges are caused by a temporary network glitch between your bank and your app store (Google Play or Apple) or our payment partners (like UPI or Razorpay).

  • The Glitch: Sometimes, your bank approves the payment, but the "Success" message gets lost on its way to our app. Thinking the first payment failed, you might try again, resulting in two charges but only one active subscription or coin pack!

What You Should Do First (The Auto-Fix):

Wait 24-48 Hours: Very often, your bank or the app store will realize that the first transaction was incomplete or duplicated. When their systems catch the error, they will automatically cancel the duplicate charge and refund the money back to your account without you having to do anything!

How to Request a Refund if It Doesn't Auto-Fix:

If You Paid via Google Play Store (Android):

Google handles all payments made through their store directly.

  • Go to your Google Play Store app.
  • Tap your Profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Budget & history.
  • Find the duplicate order, tap Report a problem, select the refund option, and submit your request to Google.

If You Paid via Apple App Store (iPhone/iPad):

Apple strictly manages all their own billing.

  • Go to reportaproblem.apple.com
  • Sign in with your Apple ID.
  • Tap "I'd like to," choose "Request a refund," and select the duplicate Pratilipi charge.

If You Paid Directly via UPI, Credit Card, Paytm, etc.:

If you paid using one of our direct payment partners (like Razorpay, PhonePe, or Paytm) and were charged twice, please contact our Support Team immediately!

  • Open the Pratilipi app and go to Help / Support.
  • Send us a message explaining the double charge.
  • Crucial Step: Please attach a screenshot of your bank statement or the SMS showing both transaction deductions, along with any Transaction IDs.
  • Our team will investigate the duplicate payment with our partners and manually process a refund back to your original payment method!

In short: Double charges are usually temporary bank errors that fix themselves, but if they don't, just grab your transaction receipts and reach out to Google, Apple, or our Support Team for a quick refund!
