I cannot open or read a story — troubleshooting guide

We’re sorry for the inconvenience you’re facing while trying to open or read a story on Pratilipi.

There are a few common reasons why a story or series may fail to open. Please check the situations below and try the recommended troubleshooting steps.

1. Did You Read the Series Using a Subscription?

With an active Pratilipi subscription, you can read all locked parts of eligible series. However, once the subscription expires, previously accessible locked parts return to their locked state.

If you are trying to continue reading a series without an active subscription, please make sure:

  • All previous parts above the current part are already unlocked.
  • You have completed reading the earlier unlocked parts.

2. Is the Series Showing an Error?

Sometimes authors may draft, edit, or delete parts of their series. In such cases, the reading flow may temporarily break for readers.

If you notice that a particular story or chapter is not opening correctly, please report the issue to our support team along with the series name or link so we can fix it as quickly as possible.

Troubleshooting Steps

This issue can also happen due to temporary app, network, or device-related problems. Please try the following steps:

  1. Check your internet connection and switch between mobile data and Wi-Fi once.
  2. Close and reopen the Pratilipi app.
  3. Turn Airplane Mode ON for 30–40 seconds and then turn it OFF before reopening the app.
  4. Make sure your Pratilipi app is updated to the latest version from the Play Store or App Store.
  5. Clear the app cache:

    Phone Settings → Apps → Pratilipi → Storage → Clear Cache

    Important: Please do not click Clear Data.

Still Unable to Open the Story?

If the story is still not opening after trying the steps above, please share the following details with our support team:

  • Story link or story name
  • Screenshot or screen recording of the issue
  • Your registered email ID or mobile number
