12 years of our journey together ❤️

We wrote 2 letters to you so far this year :) Here is the first letter and second letter. 

Today we are a bit emotional. 

This month, Your Pratilipi completed 12 years! 14th september was the 12th birthday of Pratilipi. 

12 years ago, Pratilipi's dream began. The dream was that there will be a platform where every author will be able to share stories without any barriers of language, device, format, or geography. 

Thats why you can write in any indian language, from your phone or laptop, and your stories can travel into different formats of audio, comics, printed books, tv serial, movies etc. It is our dream that one day thousands of authors will be able to earn a living from their writing only.

And we are just starting! We are on the way because of you, our writers and readers. 

Just look at how far we have reached:

1. Pratilipi authors earned a total of 38.2 crores in the last 12 months alone. In 2025 it was 24.9 crore and in 2024 it was 14.8 crore of earning.

2. There are a total of 10,104 authors earning by August 2026. In 2025 it was 9,764 and in 2024 it was 8,112.

3. In 2026, a total of 90 authors crossed earning more than 1 lakh in some months. 

4. In August alone, a total of 55 authors earned more than 1 lakh.

5. There are 870 authors earning > 5000/Month, 543 authors earning > 10000/month, and 268 earning more than 25000/month.

6. Total 1 hr 14 minutes spent everyday per reader on the app. It is more than youtube! And your subscribers spend more than 2 hours 36 minutes everyday.

By the way, we know our dream is big, and it takes decades to make the dream come true. We want to make Pratilipi a generation defining company. We are here not for 10-20 years, but for decades to come. :) 

And when we see such a big dream and vision, we also want to be utmost honest, transparent and trustworthy with our authors. Above all, we want to always try to do the right thing with our authors.

We also want to be long term ambitious. Whatever we do, we don't want to take any short cut. We want to be a company which is taking every decision with our authors in center and our vision for decades to come. 

Many people say Pratilipi is like a youtube for storytelling. Yes, it is true. In-fact many of Pratilipi authors are now earning more than big youtubers too! 

However, more accurately Pratilipi is a unique ecosystem. 

Ecosystem means: the best stories published in Pratilipi Literature, can be translated in other Indian languages in Pratilipi, can be converted in Audiobook in Pratilipi FM, and same story can be made Comics in Pratilipi Comics, or Printed as a Physical book, turned into movie or TV serial, or new formats like micro-drama. And Authors can have multiple sources of revenues from different formats and that's why Pratilipi is a unique ecosystem. :) 

We know it takes time, but we are committed for decades of our relationship with authors.
