About the contest
Pratilipi is launching a Women’s Day Special event in collaboration with a celebrated author Rochelle Potkar
The event focuses on stories of women. You can write a women-centric story or a story where a woman is a driving force behind the plot. A story from daily nuisances of life told from a woman’s point of view or something with a strong message on womanhood.
Rochelle Potkar is an Indian fiction writer and poet based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Her first book, The Arithmetic of breasts and other stories was shortlisted for The Digital Book of the Year Award 2014, by Publishing Next.
Her book, Bombay Hangover has 16 immersive, entertaining short stories about characters across caste, class, and religion in Bombay. From the bylanes of Kamathipura to the Ambarnath fast local.
The plots serve as the canvas on which she paints the metropolis’ various hues, taking you close to the sights, sounds, smells and sweat levels unique to Bombay.
You can find out more about her here. Not only would the event be judged by Rochelle. She would also conduct a session about writing a novel with all the participants.

All the participants will be invited for a writing session with Rochelle Potkar herself on 8th April 2022.

The first five authors will be awarded a cash prize and Rochelle Potkar’s latest book Bombay Hangovers. The cash prizes will be as follows:
First Prize - Rs 3000
Second Prize - Rs 2500
Third Prize - Rs 2000
Fourth Prize - Rs 1500
Fifth Prize - Rs 1000
How to participate?
Please publish your stories via self-publishing. Steps for self-publishing are as follows:
Step 1: After logging into the Pratilipi App or website, click on the "Pen" icon on the home page.
Step 2: Here you would be able to write (or paste) your story.
Step 3: Click on the Publish button after which you will be asked to add story title, cover image, and category.
Step 4: Select “WOW” in the category. (Note: If you are writing for the first time on Pratilipi, then click on the "View More" button to see the “WOW” category. If you still can't find the category, then please self publish your story and email the link to us at [email protected])
Step 5: Agree with terms and click on publish. Your entry is submitted!
Step 6: To add a part of the series. Click on the story>Edit content>Add new part.

Important rules
1. The story you submit should not be already published on Pratilipi. However, your submitted story can be published anywhere on any other platform/medium. You can also write a brand-new story and submit it here.
2. The story which you're writing should be in series format, i.e you have to publish the story in parts. A minimum of 5 parts should be there. The minimum word limit is 3000 words.
3. The stories you submit should be written by you only. (Copying any other author’s story is a legal offense)
4. You will have the copyright on your novel or series. Pratilipi keeps producing good series/novels in print, in comics, in audiobooks, web series etc. But before doing so, a contract is made with the author. If you are able to write a great series or novel in this competition, then maybe in the coming time our team will contact you and you will get a chance to work with Pratilipi.
Note: This is general information and has nothing to do with the prizes of this contest! Do not treat this information as part of the prize. :)
5. If you are writing on Pratilipi for the first time, you might not see the category, in which case after publishing your series on Pratilipi, mail its link to [email protected]. This can happen only to first-time writers, other authors please do not send links in the mail.
6. “' Author Rank” has nothing to do with the competition, it is a feature linked to categories. Please don't be confused in this regard!
7. If you are an author participating in the subscription program, please be assured that you can also participate in the contest. Whatever serial/novel you write, our team will be able to read it. That's why don't unsubscribe your creation, the result of the subscription will not be affected by the creation! If you want to use your serial in a daily series feature then you can do it, it will not affect the result.

Important Tips
1. The story should not have any spelling or grammatical mistakes.
2. It would be good to have a cover image for the story.
3. To avoid any technical problems first update the app on the google play store or app store and then participate in the competition.
4. When writing a series, it's always good to develop characters, the environment of the place it is set up, dialogues, and decide the pace of the story.
