Daily Series

With our latest release we are no longer supporting the live serial feature on Pratilipi. We are bringing something new to replace it. Why are we doing this change? A lot of writers reached out to us requesting to extend their timelines as their series are going out of live and it would not be fair for others. We understand that the live serial feature had a rigid commitment structure. If you miss your commitment for publishing three times on a given series then your series goes out of live and you can not convert it into live again.

And hence, to simplify the complexity associated with the live serial feature and to reduce the hassle for our writers community, we are introducing something very similar to it called ‘daily series’. Let’s understand it in detail.

  1. What is ‘daily series’ and how it is different from ‘live serials’?

For readers ‘Daily series’ serves the exact same purpose as live serials. Readers get clarity for the next seven days about what all series are coming out with new parts on a daily basis. However, we have simplified the efforts involved to make these parts available in advance from the writers.

For writers, unlike live serials, you don’t have to take any commitments to publish upcoming parts. Instead, you can just write the episode in advance and schedule it for a later time. Your series will feature in the ‘Daily series’ widget on the homepage under the day of the week your next part of the series is scheduled for publishing.

  1. As a writer to get featured in the ‘daily series’ on homepage what should I do?

You can write and schedule the upcoming parts of the series in advance for the next seven days and your series will get visibility under the day of scheduling. For example - I am writing a series and I am scheduling upcoming three parts on next Mon, Tue and Fri. In this case, my series will get featured in the ‘daily series widget’ on homepage’ under those same days.

  1. How will readers know from today’s list of upcoming parts which all parts are published and which all are yet to be published?

For that we have two identifier tags.1. ‘Arrived’ - suggests that the next part has arrived. 2. ‘Time stamp’ - suggests that the next part is arriving on xx time.

  1. Can I schedule more than one series on the same day?

Yes, you can schedule the upcoming parts of more than one series you are writing for the same day.

  1. Can I schedule more than one part of the same series on the same day?

Yes, you can schedule as many parts as you wish. But on the homepage Daily series widget, it will only feature once per day.

  1. What happens if I schedule the upcoming part of my series today, will it still appear under today’s list?

Yes, but it might take upto two hours to appear in the list. Also, meanwhile if it gets published then it will be shown with the tag as ‘Arrived’.

  1. I have scheduled the next part but it is not appearing in the list, what should I do?

This list is only applicable for the rolling window of 7 days from today. If your scheduled next part falls in this time frame and still it’s not visible then you should check the word count of your scheduled part. There is a condition on the word count. Daily series widget on the homepage will only give visibility to the series where the scheduled part has more than 200 words. If your part has more than 200 words and still it is not appearing in the list then please reach out to the [email protected].

  1. What happens if I delete or remove scheduling from my upcoming part?

It might take upto two hours to remove the series from the list of daily widget.
