Aekta Khubchandani

Aekta Khubchandani is a writer, poet and illustrator. Her work has been featured in The Aerogram, The Bangalore Review, Warehouse Zine, Quail Bell Magazine and Scroll among others. Her work is also published in print in the anthology, ‘Equiverse Space’ by WE, Best of Mad Swirl: 2018 and in ‘Map called Home,’ by Kitaab. Her fiction and poetry entries have been long-listed twice for Toto Awards (2018) and (2019) for Creative Writng in English by TFA (Toto Funds the Arts). Her spoken word piece, ‘I tried to look like Ma’ has also been featured by ScoopWhoop and Dil ki Baat. She recently spoke about the backseat story of how this poem came to life at TEDx Bocconi, Mumbai.

    This is a very disturbing write-up, but hits home, and oh so bad. I love the structure of the piece, of how you started and ended on the same note, and the way the story is written in snippets. Looking forward to reading more, Aekta.

    never felt that intensity of words it will make every women bury herself in pillow and cry but the real objective will be reached when it can envoke sensitivity and emotion for women in men
